Renee shares with E!Online that she would love to play a superhero!

Renée Zellweger as a superhero?

While the Oscar winner says she can’t remember if she’s ever been approached about playing a superhero, she’s certainly not opposed to the idea.

“Let’s do it,” Zellweger told me yesterday while promoting her new courtroom drama The Whole Truth. “I’d love to!”

Does she have any in mind?

“M!” Zellweger suggested.

OK, the James Bond character isn’t exactly a superhero, but perhaps she’s onto something.

That said, she’s not jumping on the female 007 bandwagon. “I don’t know,” she said. “I kind of like the [tradition].”

So why on earth was I talking to Zellweger about superheros and action flicks? Because sitting next to her was her The Whole Truth co-star Keanu Reeves, who also happens to have a the sequel to his hit action flick John Wick hitting theaters early next year.

Reeves joked about doing his own stunt work when he was in his 20s as opposed to doing the same now that he’s 52. “You get more efficient,” he cracked.
In The Whole Truth, Reeves plays a lawyer representing a high school senior (Gabriel Basso) who has killed his abusive father (Jim Belushi). Zellweger plays the teen’s mother who suffered years of abuse at the hands of her now dead husband.

“It comes home with you for a little while,” Zellweger said of the movie’s dark subject matter. “You have to take on those feelings to play it authentically. It doesn’t just switch off when they say, ‘Cut.'”

The Whole Truth is in theaters and on demand on Friday, Oct. 21.
